@MrChiffy i know mate i mean ppl loved queen an so i hear freddie , god bless his soul, was as queer as they came , but like u say its 2010 an get over it gay or not he wud still av the same voice prob not the same sort of songs cus a lot of them r gay aimed

reading some of these comments kills me .." he's gay - he's this that and gay and oh he's so gay" - who gives a rats ass i say - really - it's 2010 man - the last thing i think about when i listen to the Smiths is the completely and utterly irrelevant sexuality of their lead singer. If railing dudes makes you sing and make tunes like this then there's about 300 artists today that I wish would start hiding the monkey....

@MisAnnThorpe I do own The Durutti Column albums in full if I recall correctly. I may want to give them all a good listen before assuring myself of Marr's importance, but I am quite confident that better short songs haven't been written since the Beatles as far as his compositions are concerned.If Vini Reilly can come up with one song that has the mellifluous sonority of this here 'William', then I may venture to reevaluate my opinion. Until the day he does, I'll enjoy both him and Marr duly
